For students in New England pursuing a degree in engineering, NEWWA scholarships are an excellent opportunity. These scholarships, offered through the New England Water Works Association, give you a chance to save a substantial amount of money while you are going to school. To apply for most of them, you will need to be a civil engineering or environmental engineering student. A couple are available to students with related majors in science or business. The amounts range between $1,500 and $5,000. Students who will be doing study involving water works will be given priority during the review process.
The scholarship application deadline is April 1st. To qualify, you must be a New England resident and also be attending a college or university in the region. Fill out the student application, and include a resume with your educational history. Send in transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a one page statement discussing your educational and career objectives, and how they will relate to water works in New England. Also be sure to fill out the FAFSA. Students will be selected based on merit and need. Winners of scholarship awards from the NEWWA will be notified in July; good luck!
