If you are a history major in the state of Georgia, you may be eligible for the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia Scholarship. Each year, the Georgia Trust provides two of these scholarships to students who are dedicated to the study and preservation of American history. The scholarships are funded by the Society of the Colonial Dames; each one is worth $1,500. Ironically, if you or a family member is affiliated with the Society of the Colonial Dames, you are not eligible to apply.
If you are eligible, you can apply by filling out and turning in the application form along with your latest official transcript, a copy of your resume, and proof that you are enrolled at a college or university. You must get two academic letters of recommendation along with one personal one. You must also enclose a personal statement discussing the reason you are applying for the scholarship and what your future plans are as far as getting involved in historic preservation in Georgia. You should also briefly discuss your Georgia residency. Turn in your application by February 1st in order to receive consideration for this scholarship.
