For journalism students pursuing broadcast work, the Ed Bradley Scholarship is an amazing opportunity. This scholarship fund was created by Ed Bradley and the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). Each year, the RTDNA presents a student with $10,000.
To apply, you must be an aspiring journalist enrolled in college with at least one full academic year ahead of you. You must be in your sophomore year or higher, and may only apply for this one scholarship from the RTDNA. You do not have to be a journalism major; you can have any major so long as you are planning to pursue a career in electronic journalism. Submit the online application and a cover letter discussing your experience in journalism and how you would use your scholarship money. Talk about why you want to be an electronic journalist, and provide links to work samples. You can upload your samples to sites like YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, and so on. If you have a website or a social media profile, you may link to those as well. Send along a letter of recommendation as well. The annual deadline for this lucrative scholarship competition is May 2nd.
