The American Nuclear Society has a number of scholarships for college students pursuing a degree in nuclear engineering. One of those is the ANS Incoming Freshman Scholarship. If you are currently a high school senior and you are enrolling full time in college with a major in nuclear engineering (or a major which will lead to a nuclear engineering profession), you may qualify for one of these scholarships. Each year the ANS awards four incoming freshman with $1,000 each.
To compete for this scholarship, you will need to submit your academic records to prove your commitment to success, and also submit letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors. Finally, you will need to complete a short essay of 500 words talking about your dedication to becoming a nuclear engineer. To apply, be sure to meet the April 1st application deadline. Recipients will be notified by the end of the month, and awards are given out in September once it has been verified that you have enrolled in an accredited college or university. Make sure your major is declared when you enroll. Good luck pursuing your education and a future career as a nuclear engineer!
