It’s tough to pay for college, but you are at something of an advantage when it comes to applying for scholarships if you are a STEM student (a student studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics). There are many STEM incentives out there, and for students in the state of Alaska, one such program is the Alaska Space Grant Program. This program is offered through the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, and includes scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. If you have an interest in pursuing a career in aerospace after university, this is a very exciting way to pay for your education.
To be eligible, you must be a US citizen studying any STEM major. If you are a woman, a minority, or an individual with a disability, you are particularly encouraged to submit an application. Opportunities include Undergraduate Scholarships, Undergraduate Research Fellowships, Graduate Research Fellowships, Education Research Fellowships and Summer Internships. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the type of scholarship you apply for. The different scholarships all carry different deadlines as well. If you are planning on applying, visit the Alaska Space Grant website and have a look at the deadlines and detailed instructions.
