If you are a fashion student designing for women, you will want to apply for the prestigious Liz Claiborne Design Scholarship Award, offered by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). This is one of several different types of scholarships offered by the CFDA, and is among the most prominent scholarships in the fashion industry. Since the CFDA started giving out scholarship money, they have given students over a million dollars.
The Liz Claiborne Design Scholarship Award was founded in 2009 by the CFDA and Art Ortenberg, Liz Claiborne’s husband and business partner. To apply, you must be a fashion design undergraduate going into your senior year. The scholarship is worth $25,000, and will be applied toward your tuition and other educational expenses in your senior year, should you be selected as a winner. You will be invited to the CFDA Fashion Awards in June, where you will be formally announced. This is a great way to get a spotlight in the industry. If you need more information, visit the CFDA website, or contact your school. You can only apply if your school is participating in the program. Good luck becoming the next top fashion designer for women’s clothing!
