Hope College in Michigan provides a number of scholarships to arts students, including the Hope College Distinguished Artist Awards (DAA) in Theatre. Each year, up to 60 students are selected to receive these DAA awards in various fields. That means that you have a good shot at winning one if you are strongly committed to your studies and to launching a future career in theatre.
If you do win, you will receive $2,500 toward your college expenses. This is a renewable award, so you can get $2,500 each year for four years so long as you keep your GPA high. DAA winners are also given special opportunities that are not available to students who are not selected to participate in the program. How do you apply? You will need to attend an audition on campus. These auditions are held each year in the month of February. An interview will also be included as part of the process. Each process is a little different from the others, so you will want to get in touch with your department chairperson to find out exactly what you need to do to prepare for the theatre awards audition. This is a very exciting award; if you win and renew each year, $10,000 worth of college expenses will be paid for!
