Are you living in the state of Massachusetts? Do you dream of becoming a professional musician or singer, or teaching music? If so, you will want to apply for one of the GFWC of Massachusetts Music Scholarships offered by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of MA. Two scholarships are given out each year. The Nickels for Notes $500 Scholarship is given out to a high school senior majoring in piano, voice, instrument, music therapy or music education. Another $500 scholarship is given out by the Dorchester Woman’s Club for voice undergraduates.
For the Nickels for Notes scholarship, you need to be a senior at a MA high school (or home-schooled in the state). For the second scholarship, you need to be enrolled with your major in voice declared. Once more, you need to be a resident of Massachusetts in order to qualify. You must be attending a four-year university. While these scholarships are for small amounts of money, they are a great opportunity for Massachusetts students. The candidate pool is restricted to MA residents in both cases, which eliminates a lot of competition. $500 may not seem like a lot, but it is enough to purchase a musical instrument and can make a big difference in your life.
