Want to save money on your theatre education? If you are a minority drama student, you may wish to apply for the CBC Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is offered by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and was established in 2000 to honor Curtis Mayfield. Each year, up to 10 students are granted $3,000 to help them pursue their dreams in the performing arts.
To be eligible, you must be a full time undergraduate student (or high school senior) pursuing drama, music, opera, dance, or another performing arts field. Your career plans must involve performing arts, and you will need a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students who participate in community service activities and display leadership qualities will be given the highest consideration. To apply, submit the application form, a personal essay, two letters of recommendation, a copy of your FAFSA, a 2 page resume, your transcript, a recent photograph, and a 2 minute recording sample by May 1st. Make sure that if you are still in high school, you send over proof of your college enrollment. Good luck pursuing your career in theatre or another performing arts field with your scholarship from the CBC!
