If you are studying journalism or communications and happen to be a member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), there is a perfect scholarship just for you. The AQHA Journalism or Communications Scholarship awards $8,000 over a four year period to a member pursuing a college degree in either communications or journalism. Ideally, you should be a member of the AQHA or AQHYA for at least a year before you apply. You must also be planning on a career in journalism, news, or a related field.
You must apply for this scholarship while you are either a senior in high school or a freshman at an accredited university or college. Your GPA must be at least 2.5 in order to qualify; the better your GPA, the stronger your chances of winning the award. You may only win the AQHA Journalism or Communications Scholarship once, and you must apply the money toward the completion of a four-year degree program in your field. The annual deadline for this scholarship is December 1. If you are not studying journalism or communications but are a member, be sure to have a look through the many other scholarships offered by your association.
