This scholarship is provided by the American Postal Workers Union (APWU). It is available to high school seniors who are the children or grand children of an active member of the American Postal Workers Union. If you have a parent or grandparent in the APWU, and you are applying to an accredited community college or vocational college, you may be able to receive $3,000 in financial assistance through this scholarship program. The $3,000 will be awarded annually in installments of $1,000.
You can actually get this scholarship if you are studying in any one of a wide variety of fields. One of the fields which is allowed is cosmetology. So if you are planning on becoming an esthetician or going into a related field, there is a great chance you will be able to qualify for the APWU Vocational Scholarship Program. You do not necessarily need to be enrolled in a three year program either; the program you choose can be as short as nine months, and you will still receive the applicable financial award. One recipient is chosen from each of the five postal zones each year. The application deadline for the APWU Vocational Scholarship is March 15.
