A distinguished panel of judges with relevant experience in many fields, including alternative fuels, automotive, design, energy, engineering, environment, math, science, and technology, will use a scoring guide as they review the submissions to determine the top three teams. Learn more about the judges below.

The three semifinalist teams will then be judged in May 2010 during an exciting round of online voting, where the general public gets to help decide the winning dashboard of the future. The top three teams will have their dashboards showcased online, and the public will help the expert judges select the Grand Prize Winner!

Eric is the Senior Director and Prize Lead, Progressive Automotive X PRIZE, and has over 15 years experience directing complex, technology-intense enterprises in a broad range of industries. He has dedicated his career to the commercialization of cleaner alternatives in the automotive and energy sectors. At GM Powertrain, Eric assessed the market for alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. Later, as Program Manager of a government-funded hybrid electric vehicle program, he led the team responsible for developing the electric drive train technology for the forthcoming Fisker Karma luxury plug-in hybrid. Eric earned a joint MS degree in Engineering & Management and a MS in Technology & Policy from MIT, and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Dale Fulton is currently the Senior Vice President for Curriculum Development at Discovery Education, a division of Discovery Communications, Inc. In his role as leader of the Curriculum Development Team, Dale provides leadership to ensure that educators are provided with high-quality content that is accurate and up-to-date, correlated to individual state curriculum standards, and addresses all core K-12 curriculum areas. Prior to joining Discovery Education Dale was with the Montgomery County Public School System in Rockville, Maryland. During his tenure of 32 years he served in a variety of instructional and administrative positions. In his last position, Dale served as Associate Superintendent, Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs, where he provided leadership for all aspects of the K-12 curriculum for 140,000 students.

John Wharton is the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Facilities responsible for the development and function of 400,000 square feet of facilities, and for the forging of operational alliances with other cultural institutions and civic entities. He has been with the Saint Louis Science Center since its inception in 1984, playing a key role in the transition of the institution from regional natural history museum to one of the leading experiential science centers in the world. In his roles as Director of the McDonnell Planetarium and Anheuser Busch Omnimax Theater, Director of Visitor Programs and Services, and Vice President of Operations, he has been deeply involved in crafting and realizing the Science Center's master plan, and its related development and operational elements. In addition to advising the Missouri Department of Transportation for the past decade, John competes nationally in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Solo2 autocross and is a race official with the SCCA.
