How can I register to compete in DASH+?

It's easy to enter! While visiting www.FuelOurFutureNow.com/contest, simply click on Get Started. To complete your registration, you will need to identify your team and adult mentor and include their birthdays and e-mail addresses.

Who is eligible to compete in the contest?

Teams must be made up of between two and five U.S. students, who are aged 14 or older and enrolled in 9th through 12th grade for the fall 2009 semester at a public, private, parochial or home school at the time of entry.

One adult teacher or mentor aged 21 or older must supervise each team, and adult mentors can supervise more than one team in the DASH+ contest. See our official rules page for more information.

What if I don't have a video camera to shoot my pitch video?

There are lots of ways to get a camera. Did you know that many cell phones have cameras in them? Digital cameras are also good ways to make a short movie. If you don't have access to either, you can check with your teacher, school media center, or local Public Library.

How will I be judged?

The contest is judged by an expert panel of judges to determine the semifinalists. Click here for a complete list of expert judges. View the scoring guide, or the point scale system, the judges are using to assign scores.

In addition to the expert judges' score, the three semifinalists will also be judged by the public during the online voting period in May 2010. This will help determine the Grand Prize Winner.

Teams have the opportunity to score up 55 points from the expert panel and up to 45 points from online voting. The team with the highest combined score wins the Grand Prize. See official rules for more details. Back To Top

 

Who will be judging my entry?

A distinguished panel of judges with relevant experience in many fields, including alternative fuels, automotive, design, energy, engineering, environment, mathematics, science, and technology will review the top 10 submissions to help determine the DASH+ winner. Back To Top

 

When and how will I find out if I've won?

Three semifinalist teams will be notified by e-mail or the phone number provided by May 1, 2010. The Grand Prize winner will be notified by e-mail or the phone number provided on or around June 15, 2010. Back To Top

Who qualifies to be an adult mentor?

Anyone who is at least 21 years old can serve as an adult mentor for a DASH+ team. Sponsors could be one of your teachers, parents, school administrators, community leaders, local science center employees, or more! Can adult mentors sponsor more than one team?

Can students enter if they have immediate family members who work for the X PRIZE Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, Discovery Education, Saint Louis Science Center or any other contest partners?

No. Immediate family members of DASH+ partners are not permitted to enter the contest. Back To Top
